A REALLY rainy weekend!

Yep, More rain - just what is needed.

If I want to build my own ocean, that is!

Here are some pictures of the deluge.

The persimmon stream before the rain

And after..

I can't tell how much came down - I think it was about 2-3 inches over the course of about 3 hours.  My rain gauge had a hole in it!

I was getting concerned that some of the persimmons might get damaged

Several of the smaller persimmons were right in the stream

Not to mention the elderberries!

There was standing water in the front garden

Running water in the large garden!

Water was running over the driveway to the red barn

My foundation for the greenhouse is full again

After the waters went down a bit.  You can see the grass all matted down

See where the water was going through the elderberries?

On the bright side, I think they all made it.

That looks like a caterpillar infestation...  I hope not!

My sweetpotatoes are having a rough time of it this year.  Dried out on delivery, flooded and overcrowded with weeds!  (I can't get in to remove the weeds - its so muddy)

This is along the top edge of the paw-paw garden.  Water is just running out of the hill there.

The pumpkins are doing well.  They are heading towards the beans!

The squash are doing ok, all things considered.  This is the new portion of the front patch.  The soil here has not been amended and is really kind of poor.

I think my deer control measures worked - at least for these apple trees.

This one is at the top of the thill.  It had all of its leaves eaten off!  I hope it recovers.

Something happened to this locust tree.  Very odd.

These are the black walnut trees.

This is where i moved the spruce and a few pine trees

The english walnut trees are looking good!

The butternut trees are coming along nicely as well.

The bank i cleared here for the trees is slowly getting some grass on it.  I try to keep it mowed so the weeds and trees don't try to invade.

The view out across the valley from the top of the field.

Those clouds look like they have some more rain! :(

A stream flowing through the upper grass field.  The trees are the pecans.  They are looking good, I think.

The stream meeting the trail along the field.

Lake walipini is back up - full of water.

Nice sot of the vineyard (the Hazelnuts are in the tubes in the foreground)

Better view of the hazelnuts.  They seem to be recovering well.  All but on survived.

The orchard!

Aww, a little deer out behind my wood pile!

Ugh, this water is killing a number of my plants!  These cabbage are just going to rot I am afraid.

The eggplant seem to be high enough that they aren't taking water damage!

Looks like this one had a leaf or two munched on!  I sprayed these with sevin.  I usually go for an organic solution, but this year, with all the rain, the organic sprays wash off too fast and there are just too many weeds to fight (bugs live in the weeds and transfer to the plants)

These bok-choy (chinese cabbages) are hit hard by cabbage worms!

I hit these with sevin too.  It's still cool enough that I may get something off of these!

Cucumbers are coming on!

The castor beans are picking up strength!

Sigh.. My poor grape vines and this freaking rust!

I have been treating them with copper based fungicide.

The web sites say use sulphur on them, but I cant find any sulfur locally!  Why not? There used to be sulfur all over the place - now none!

I keep trying this copper based fungicide.  I know it takes time to work, but I am getting desperate!  I have some captan based fungicide - I am thinking of trying it.

Even the new wine grapes are showing some rust now!

Because it was so rainy, I stayed inside a lot and made french fries and canned the remaining potatoes.  18 pints and I lost count of the number I froze.  I think over 12 quarts.
